Custom kids socks manufacturer: youth ankle and crew, to your size grid

Two youth constructions are listed here: a thin cotton ankle sock packed nine pairs to a bag, and a mesh crew in a polyester blend. Both are knitted to the size grid you sell.

The ankle listing reads: youth children's autumn thin cotton, breathable, athletic, ankle, soft, machine washable, nine pairs. The yarn is listed as 75% combed cotton, 22% polyester and 3% spandex, in sizes S/M/L/XL.

The construction

What these kids socks are

Size bands first, then the knit: a thin ankle sock for everyday and school use, a mesh crew for sport.

Mesh crew

The crew listing is a youth mesh crew, mid-calf, breathable, in spandex, polyester and cotton, sizes L and XL. Mesh is an open stitch at the top of the foot, so the sock reads cool there without being thin everywhere.

Size bands

Youth size bands are most of the work. A band that fits at seven is tight at ten, so a school or club order is split by year, and each band is sampled rather than scaled from a single pair.

Packing

Nine-pair packs are a packing decision: a poly bag, a printed sleeve or a box, with the pair count and the size mix printed on the outer. Mixed packs carrying two or three bands are ordinary and are quoted by mix.

Multi-pair packs are packed and labelled here, so the size mix on the outer is ours to control.

For anti-slip soles and floor socks in the smaller sizes, the children's category carries those styles. This page covers youth ankle and crew socks for school, club and everyday wear.

Both yarn lines and both size bands are listing figures for the two styles. Gauge and weight per pair are not carried as catalogue figures on any style: both are fixed on the signed sample and written on the specification sheet against your order, weight in grams per pair.

S, M, L and XL are the labels the two listings carry, and a label on its own tells a buyer nothing about a child. So the band is written as a foot-length range, agreed with you, and the years you sell to sit on top of it: send the boundary foot length for each band and the year each band is aimed at, and the mapping goes on the specification sheet before the sample is knitted. Foot length rather than shoe size is the column that decides the cylinder and the stitch count — why the size chart is written that way. A published kids chart is not carried on this site, so no fixed S/M/L to centimetre table is claimed here.

Questions

What buyers ask about this style

How do we split the size bands?

By the years you actually sell to, not by a generic chart. Send the bands and the foot length at each boundary; each band is knitted and sampled in its own size, so the ten-year-old and the seven-year-old get the sock that fits them.

Can a pack mix sizes?

Yes. Mixed packs of two or three bands are ordinary on school and club orders. The mix is printed on the outer and the inner labels follow the same split, which is what keeps a store's shelf stocked evenly through the season.

How is the sock made machine washable?

The care label is set from the yarn on the specification sheet, and the knit is dense enough at the cuff and toe to hold shape through washing. Send the wash conditions your market uses and the label is written to them.

How does this differ from the anti-slip children's line?

The anti-slip styles carry a tread on the sole for indoor walking, and the children's category lists those. These are ordinary ankle and crew socks worn inside shoes, which is the right pick for a school, club or everyday order.
