About the factory · the tour

The sock factory behind this site, in the open

Sourcing starts with one question: is the supplier you are writing to actually the factory? This page answers it with the floor itself — eight stops photographed where your order would run, not in a studio. What a photograph still cannot show you is at the end, with the call that can.

What an order starts at: MOQ 1,000 pairs per style for bulk orders · sampling typically 3–5 days after you confirm the brief and artwork · bulk typically 20–30 days after deposit received and sample approved · first reply to an enquiry within one working day. How a quote is built.

We knit the socks on our own floor: computerised sock knitting machines running in the Zhuji workshop, export handled by the same desk

The workshop, before we say anything about it. Knitting machines in rows, yarn creels overhead, the aisle the socks travel down. Every stop below was photographed on this floor.

Eight stops, in the order an inspector would walk them

Start at the gate, because the gate is the part that appears on your paperwork. Then the machines, the finishing, the yarn behind them, and the cartons at the end. Each stop says what you are looking at and what to check in it.

Front gate and sign of the knitting factory in Datang, Zhuji
The gate, No. 79 Jiangbei Road What to check: this is the address your packing list and both audit documents carry. If the street name in the paperwork differs from the one on the sign, ask why before you pay a deposit.
Aerial view of the factory buildings, with cars parked in the yard and a construction site at the upper left
The site, from above What to check: the buildings the audits are held against. The factory entity is Zhuji Qingsheng Knitting Co.,Ltd., and the floor you walk in the stops below is the site both documents name.
We knit the socks on our own floor: computerised sock knitting machines running in the Zhuji workshop, export handled by the same desk
The workshop What to check: knitting and toe linking sit on the same floor, so a seam closes a few metres from where the sock was knitted rather than in a different building.
Rows of sock knitting machines along an aisle with blue crates and bags of white yarn
The production floor What to check: this is the aisle a third-party inspector walks, and the crates are the work in progress between the machines and the linking room.
Sock forms holding socks along the curved rail of a boarding machine, with its control cabinet at the right
Boarding What to check: socks on forms, set to the finished size before packing. Boarding is the stage that most often slips when it is subcontracted — here it is in the building.
Photograph of the yarn warehouse on our floor: racking of colored yarn cones that feed the knitting machines
The yarn store What to check: the cones that feed the machines. The lot number that ties a cone to your order is a paper trail rather than a photograph, and it is the next stop below.
Pallets of white and gray sacks in a warehouse room, with stacked cardboard cartons at the left
The warehouse What to check: finished goods and cartons waiting. Carton marks are applied here, and they are what a customs broker reads.
Showroom with dark wood display walls, backlit shelves of socks, a round display column and a glass table
The showroom What to check: where you would sit if you visited, and where the samples you approve are kept against your order number.

Four things a photograph cannot show you

None of these is a picture, and none of them is a claim you have to take on trust: each one has an artefact you can hold, or a call you can record.

The audit documents

BSCI 26-0419962 and SEDEX (SMETA) ZAA600215648, both held by Zhuji Qingsheng Knitting Co.,Ltd. The reports are on this site as PDFs, not summarised by us: BSCI report (PDF, 114 KB) and SEDEX report (PDF, 3.8 MB).

The dye-lot record for your order

The cones are photographed above; the record that ties a lot to your order number is a paper trail. Ask for it with your proforma invoice and you get the lot numbers your shipment actually ran on.

The machine your order is booked on

Which machine takes your order depends on the needle count and the knit. On a call we point the camera at that machine, running, rather than at the nearest one.

Bulk against the sample you signed

The sample you approve is kept on file against your order number, and the bulk run is checked against it before the cartons close. Ask to see the two side by side on the call.

Both audits, with the holder named on each

A certificate number only helps if the holder matches the entity on your invoice. Both of these are held by the factory entity; the export desk is not the holder of either, and we would rather the table said so than your compliance team found it out. The full matrix, with the markets each audit covers and where to look each one up, is on the certificates section of the contact page.

The figures behind the pictures

Knitting, toe linking, boarding, inspection and packing run in the same building in Datang, Zhuji — the sock town in Zhejiang. Every figure below comes from the same internal sheet as the rest of this site, and carries no third-party source link: we publish them for planning, not as audited statistics. Where we cannot verify a figure, we do not print it. Last checked: October 26, 2026.

  • 20,000,000pieces a year of annual capacity
  • 4production lines, visible as four machine groups
  • 51–100people, floor and export desk together
  • 2current audits, both with the holder named
Worked with them on a custom design. Easy to talk to and replies came quickly. Quality was good, delivery was fast, no complaints from us. Would recommend them.

Who makes it, who ships it, who signs

Factory and trading desk are two halves here, and we would rather you knew which half you are talking to at every step. The sentence that must agree everywhere on this site and on your paperwork: QS Knitting Co.,Ltd, Baoshan District, Shanghai, China (phone +86-13761030160), is the export and contracting entity; Zhuji Qingsheng Knitting Co.,Ltd. is the factory entity.

  1. Floor

    Who produces

Zhuji Qingsheng Knitting Co.,Ltd. — the factory entity in Datang, Zhuji, Zhejiang, China. Knitting, toe linking, boarding, inspection and packing run on its own floor, and the eight stops above are that floor.

  2. Desk

    Who handles export and follow-up

QS Knitting Co.,Ltd — the export desk. Quoting, sampling follow-up, freight booking and export documents run through it; Michelle Zhang, Export sales manager, answers enquiries within one working day. If a question belongs to the floor — a machine, a dye lot, a check — the desk brings the answer back, and does not guess at it.

  3. Contract

    Who signs and collects

QS Knitting Co.,Ltd, Baoshan District, Shanghai, China (phone +86-13761030160) — the export and contracting entity, named on your quotation and proforma invoice. If your finance team needs one counterparty on everything, say so on the first call and we will set it up that way. The same names, address and phone appear in this site's footer on every page; if any copy drifts from this one, treat this page as the master.

Live, not edited

Book the call, pick the route, keep the recording

A video call where you choose what the camera points at, in the order you ask. Record it and keep the file. If something you asked to see is not there, you will see that too — that is the point of doing it live rather than sending an edited tour.

  • Any time zoneSlots are arranged by email and confirmed back within one working day.
  • UnannouncedAsk for a slot the floor was not told about in advance.
  • RecordedYou record the call and keep the file for your own records.
  • Third-party tooBook a third-party inspection, or send your own inspector.

Write “walkthrough” in the enquiry form with two time windows that suit you. If your finance team needs one counterparty on everything, say so on the same email and we set it up that way. Visiting is welcome by appointment, and the contact page routes the request to the desk that owns it.
